This week’s Monday Morning Diary will become the Tuesday Morning Diary, as per usual practice when we have a three-day ‘holiday’ weekend stateside. While a number of folks head down the shore, others opt to barbeque at home for the Memorial Day breather, while still others (like Yours Truly) will be taking the family into Manhattan on Sunday. In any case, it always seems appropriate to count Monday as part of the weekend, with Tuesday the proper time to unwind and “come clean.” Best Wishes to all for a wonderful time today and tomorrow, and for those living in the U.K., Ireland, India and Australia, please permit this indulgence. Obviously then, the date for this week’s Tuesday Morning Diary will be June 1.
The new ‘Guess the Pic’ (below) looks like a humdinger!

Er, it’s a holiday in the UK tomorrow, too. Though we don’t call it Memorial Day, far too American. Hell, you guys can’t even spell barbecue.
Just want to say hello Allan, Tony, Movie Man, Jamie, Dennis, Dee Dee et al. I’m in an internet cafe right around the corner from the Cinema Village, where I am getting ready for the 1:10 P.M. showing of the critically-praised French film, MADEMOISELLE CHABRON. I will also check out the 3:10 P.M. screening of Jeunet’s MICMACS at the Angelika, so I’ll see where I stand here with Marc Bauer’s excellent assessment.
Lucille and the kids just walked two blocks down to the Union Square Cinemas check out that Queen Latifah movie (ugh!) and will then spend some quality time in that specialty store nearby called ‘Fantastic Planet.’ God, going in there with five kids and a pocketbook of cash could prove to be a disaster. When I leave the Angelika to pick everybody up we might be penniless.
