So you are going out West my friend? Fantastic. To say that will be awaiting your glowing report and sense of noirish appreciation would be the understatement of the year.
At some point I have to attend one of these Noir City events. I wish they would hold one in NYC, though going to the Castro would probably be the most optimal experience. I await your report as well Dee Dee.
I hope you are booked at the Trescott Hotel Dee Dee. That’s some palace! Hope you have a great time. You deserve it.
Ha Peter! That’s the Prescott. Film Noir members really do this great event in style.
This is a dream trip. I hope you come back here and give us the full rundown Dee Dee. Best Wishes for a great time!
Hello! Sam Juliano—
My plans aren’t confirmed yet, hence, the reason that I placed this information in my title in the form Of a question: As I head-out…West?…Hmmmm
We shall see…What happens next!

Dee Dee, I have my fingers crossed that this tentative plan will come to fruition!
Hello! Maurizio Roca—
“At some point I have to attend one of these Noir City events. I wish they would hold one in NYC, though going to the Castro would probably be the most optimal experience…”
Most definitely, I would think that would be an optimal experience [viewing those classic film on the big screen as they were screened when they first was released to a movie going public…
…As a matter Of fact, I recently, emailed a Film noir Foundation staff member and asked her the same question…Unfortunately, she has not response to my question yet, If and when she does answer my question… I most definitely, will post the information here at WitD…By the way, the closest that Noir City venture East is Washington D.C…
I await your report as well Dee Dee…
Maurizio Roca, Just like I mentioned to Sam Juliano, We shall see…What happens next!
Thanks, for your comment too!

Hello! Peter—
“I hope you are booked at the Trescott Hotel Dee Dee. That’s some palace! Hope you have a great time. You deserve it!”
Whether pronounced Trescott or Prescott I want be staying at that beautiful hotel…I most admit this is my first-time viewing this hotel [online and after following the link...] and to be quite honest with you, I was floored!…It’s gorgeous!…
If I do make it out the San Francisco way…Just look for me to sleep on a park bench with a newspaper over my head, while wearing a wrinkle trench coat, a fedora with shade on [pencil and paper in hand taking note after every evening wrap-up at the Castro...eating and drinking cigarette [even though I have never smoked a day in my life..] and coffee for breakfast, lunch and dinner!…lol…I’m just kidding around… I most definitely, will be staying with relatives who reside in San Francisco near the Golden Gate bridge.
Peter, thanks, for your comment too!

Bonjour! Pierre de Plume—
I’m quite sure that I can find that information out as I plan to take an in-depth look at the places and films that their [Muller and Pendas] tour will take them in S.F…On 01/22/2012…
By the way, that website that you have linked is quite beautiful!… [Nice mellow sounds too!]
…I most definitely, will place it [the link] in my purse and take it with me to link on my Ning and blogs…too!
Merci, for your comment and the link…too!

Bonjour deedee — Back in the 80s, I had dinner with a friend at John’s Grille. At that point in time, the decor was out of the Maltese Falcon and so were the waiters. They had a room on the 2nd floor, open to the public and with furnishings and decor reminiscent of the period of that film.

After perusing their website…it appear as if the decor is still the same, but I may be wrong since you have dined there with a friend and I have just discovered this very interesting and very uber [Bar and Grille] where the famous Mr. Hammett as in Dashiell…[along with you, Bogie, Lauren Bacall, Johnny Depp, Marlon Brando, and so many more people have dined...Hmmmm....Wonderful!]

“Oh would I love to see THE GREAT GATSBY especially! I am wondering if this new print of Curtiz’ THE BREAKING POINT is the one offered up now on the Warner Archives DVD. I own it, and will soon negotiate a quality check…”
Hello! Sam Juliano—
Oh! no, Sam Juliano, it’s not the same print that the Warner Archives have released…on Movies-on-Demand.
While over there perusing on Tony’s website to send his [Tony's film] articles over to my Newspaper.li…I ran across your question and ask the Director Of Communications over there at The Film Noir Foundation Ms. Anne Hockens, if she could response to your question and here goes her response:
deedee… “The Breaking Point” DVD from the Warner Archive was made from an old TCM video master. This is a brand new restored 35mm print, never screened before, never used for any transfer.”
Thanks, Anne Hockens, for responding to Sam Juliano’s
[editor's note: Without running the "risk" Of sounding like a "pitch-person" for the Film Noir Foundation, but that is what the donation are used for...to save and restore the films to their original pristine condition.]
inquiry…deedee
Thanks very much Dee Dee for that important clarification from Ms. Anne Hockens on the difference of prints for THE BREAKING POINT. The Warner Archives copy I have does sport the “re-mastered” banner on the jacket art cover, but as Ms. Hockens points out, it was taken from an older print. I am going to look at the quality again today on my plasma, but I have no doubt that Ms. Hockens would be in the know here.
At some point I have to attend one of these Noir City events. I wish they would hold one in NYC…
Maurizo Roca, in response to your wish…
Anne Hockens said,”The NOIR CITY events in other cities have started with a venue approaching us interested in partnering with us to do NOIR CITY there. Basically, we need a local theatre who wants to do the event.”
Maurizo— in other words, if a venue in New York City ever approach The Film Noir Foundation to screen films at their theatre then a Noir City festival event will occur in the “big apple” too!
[After reading Anne Hockens' response one must assume that The Film Noir Foundation isn't going to be the ones who initiate the partership. lol]
On a personal note, I thought it was finances that prevented Noir City from coming to New York, but it [appears] to comes down to seeking someone-to partnership [with] and [a venue] or place to screen the films. If only I owned a theatre in New York…lol
deedee
The noir event is a kind of ‘convention’ where many people with similar tastes and interest convene. I wish you a great time there. Is there a formal schedule posted of the itinerary?
Hello! David Noack—
I quite agree with you, it appears as if Noir City festival(s) [After the main event in San Francisco, Noir-City X will heads to Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA, Chicago, and Washington D.C.] are like convention(s) where people from different walks Of life gather to watch and discuss classic films on a yearly basis and most definitely, try to raise money [for restoration] in order to preserve these classic films for future generations too!
“Is there a formal schedule posted of the itinerary?”
Oh! yes, if you follow the links under the Noir City X poster on the side-bar you can find out more information about Noir-City X full schedule, but in the mean-time here goes a direct link: The Full Schedule For Noir-City X
Thank-you, for your comment too!

“I am going to look at the quality again today on my plasma, but I have no doubt that Ms. Hockens would be in the know here…”
Hi! Sam Juliano—
