A film that begins with several minutes of imagery accompanied by captions – mostly quotations from famous writers or revolutionaries – and ends, over four hours later, with an extended still shot of the dead Che Guevara.  It’s a film that is literally in your face and meant to be, which is partly what makes it so ironic it’s been in so few people’s faces.  It’s never seen these days, ignored, overlooked, as if it’s too volatile a powder keg even now, four decades on.  It’s unlikely a DVD will be forthcoming for the foreseeable future, but I would be most happy to have to edit this review to amend that fact.  One of the great films of the documentary movement, and one of the greatest political films of them all, awaits discovery.
