Those who were unable to take advantage of the recent Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion DVD sale, which ended yesterday, can instead aim their focus on another offer that appears ever better. At ‘Deep Discount DVD’ (until November 29th only though, so there are only four days left to act) they are offering the entire invantory for 40% off. And of course there isn’t any sales tax and shipping is always FREE. So for those who weren’t able to attain the recently-released Criterion set of The Golden Age of Television, the Deep Discount sale will enable you to buy it for a price that is nearly as low as the Criterion mark down.
But there is so much more there, and collectors are urged to get over there ASAP to pick up gifts and shore up the holes in their collection. All blu-ray DVDs are also 40% off, books, 30% off and CDs 30% off. Get over there now! (no I am not winning any commission!)
NOTE WELL: This sale includes EVERY DVD from EVERY COMPANY, not just Criterion. All Warners, Paramount, MCA, MGM, Kino, Image, etc, etc, are 40% off!
Amazon is also having a similar sale (at over 50% off), though only on a very small selection of Criterions. I’m considering selling a kidney.
Jon, keep in mind that this deep discount sale includes EVERY TITLE FROM EVERY COMPANY, not just Criterions. All Warner, Paramount, Universal, Kino, Image, MGM, the entire kitten kaboodle, all at 40% off with no tax and free shipping.
I am making a list right now. But I won’t actually be able to order everything I want. Must be selective!
Well, I just ordered 5 Warner Archive titles for about $17 each.
Min and Bill **** 1/2
The Big House **** 1/2
On Borrowed Time ****
All Fall Down **** 1/2
The Citidel ****
By the way, my Criterions just arrived from the B&N sale. By Brakhage (which I had been in the process of watching & enjoying on Netflix; I’ll complete disc 2 now that I own it), Il Posto (I also love the short film on that DVD, which is probably the one narrative short that breaks my de facto rule though if I remember correctly it falls into the 20-30 range so not really), and the Dreyer collection which I’ve had my eye on for years but couldn’t pull the trigger on until now. Stuff to be thankful for, for sure…
Great stuff there Joel. Enjoy. I’ll be looking for your terrific reviews to follow at The Sun’s Not Yellow.
