Thanks to all who followed and supported the Greatest Television Countdown Part 2. the long-running project concluded on Friday and will be the final group project at the site until April or May of 2019 when a proposed Greatest War Films Countdown may be staged after the group voices their position, and if there are enough writers.
In the heart of the summer the quality movie scene has been light as usual, but before long the fall and the better releases will begin to appear. Otherwise James Clark continues on with his Ingmar Bergman series with another full review set to publish this week on Wednesday.
Lucille and I saw only a single film in theaters this past week, but it was a very fine documentary titled Three Identical Strangers.
Three Identical Strangers **** (Saturday evening) Edgewater multiplex
Stay-at-home cinephiles hunker down, because Wed. (7/25) is the day of the prole on TCM, and the line-up is staggering: Modern Times, Strike, Our Daily Bread, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, and Loden’s hard-to-see milestone, Wanda.
Me love you long time, Charley Varrick. Don Siegel’s 1973 gem is getting a Blu-ray release. Keep your eye on Sheree North; I suspect she has a yen for rough sex with Joe Don Baker.
Plus, the trailer for the new, far-off Godzilla movie (5/31/19) looks mighty awesome. Mothra appears to be an exquisite, lime-green luna moth. It looks beautiful and I can’t believe I just typed that.
Thanks of that fabulous announcement Mark! By now I’m sure you have fully availed yourself as hopefully others here who have read it may have! I have all those films on blu ray and or DVD and am a big fan. WANDA of course is the most valuable of those holdings as the DVD is long out of print and is selling for a large sum. Yes CHARLEY VARRICK is terrific as well !! Hmmm, this is the first I heard of the Godzilla film! Hope it turns out to be a winner, but am always skeptical when it comes to these films. Hence I do understand your incredibility. Thank you as always my friend! Have a great upcoming week!
This documentary looks good Added to my list
Thanks Patricia! I’m sure you will react favorably to it. Have a great upcoming week my friend!
Looking forward to this documentary! Congratulations to all those who made contributions to the tv countdown. It was quite a ride.
Thank you as always for your sustained support Frank! Have a wonderful week my friend!
Also liked Three Identical Strangers! Sad how everything spiraled out of control for the one with depression issues. They did a great job using recent interviews and had an abundance of old photos and video footage.
Aye John. Very very sad how it ended up for that one brother. Thanks as always and have a special upcoming week my friend!
