Biden-Harris victory and Horror Fest Addendum on Monday Morning Diary (November 9)

The four year political horror is over.  Though (as expected) the President and his conspiracy-minded minions are refusing to concede and are shamelessly pointing figures without evidence, the nation and the media have declared the winners, who have thus far -as counting winds down- received five million more popular votes and currently lead  by a proportionately just-as-whopping 306 to 232 in the Electoral College.  At least those are the numbers the race is heading to.  The President continues to do all he can to sow doubt, division and mistrust and as a result the nation will be scarred well into the future.  But most of us can breathe easy and abide by President-Elect Biden’s stirring acceptance speech where he promised to embrace people of all creeds and and tear down the barriers installed during the previous toxic administration.  Across the globe countries are cerebrating en masse.  We are looking looking ahead to a new beginning.  Many thanks to our great friend Mark Smith for all his witty and spot-on political commentary tidbits over the past week.

Jamie Uhler has provided a comprehensive list of horror films that he plans on investigation in the coming weeks and for fans of the genre, what a bonanza this is!  Jamie’s 2020 HorrorFest was his best ever and during these pandemic-ravaged days a fabulous method of immersion.

I’ve downloaded several films from the 40’s I plan on doing soon, of which Queen of Spades and The Face Behind the Mask (1941) are in there. Really, the point of pushing the last week and a half of getting this updated list out was partially because I’ve wanted to update it every 2 years since the last time in 2016. So 2018 was slated to do it but never found time, then 2019 passed, etc. But I have lists and lists everywhere. So I cobbled all of them together, in an effort to finally be a little more organized with this stuff and underneath my actual master list I can now finally just add films as I see them throughout the year, or reshuffle the list as I revisit stuff or age and think differently. It can be an organic, living document, finally. It took many, many hours the last 10 days or so. Ah. But it’s done! I’ve debated that when I get to 1,000 if I should cap it there, and then as I watch more and more, anything after 1,000 just walls off. It’s insane now though, you see how impressive I think Horror is—drop down at 500 you’re STILL at decent/above average films!!

But at the bottom of that file is stuff I hear about that I want to watch, hopefully making Horror a more year round enterprise again since I had such fun doing some of this stuff this year, instead of contained mostly to Sept-Oct. as it’s been the last 5 years or so.
